CONEMAUGH TOWNSHIP — HAFER – Telford H., 85, Conemaugh Township, died March 20, 2013, at his home. Born Sept. 12, 1927, in Conemaugh Township, son of the late Gustav K. and Ida (Kaseler) Hafer. Preceded in death by brothers, Franz and Hans Hafer; and sister, Betty Macesich. Survived by wife of 62 years, Mary Lou (Orr) Hafer; children, Bruce Hafer, and wife, Judy, Johnstown; Denise Ozimok, and husband, John, Harrisburg; and Brian Hafer, Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Sonya Gatehouse, and husband, Jack; Tammy Lamer, and husband, Jerry; Matt, Megan and Tim Ozimok; John Hafer, and wife, Jen; and Phyllis and Joel Hafer; great-grandchildren, Alex, David, Sarah and Jacob; and brother, Werner Hafer, Kansas. Member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He was an avid golfer at Pleasant Valley Golf Course and a horse shoe pitcher at Conemaugh PNA. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. as supervisor of the industrial engineer department, and operated an upholstering business for 25 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Michael A. VanDyke, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Charles Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
