Betty L. Guyer

JOHNSTOWN — GUYER – Betty L., 94, Johnstown, passed away peacefully the evening of Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Johnstown’s Memorial Hospital. She was born in Johnstown on Oct. 6, 1918, the first child of the late Russell K. and Beatrice J. (Mangus) Bosley. On Nov. 8, 1941, she married Jay R. Guyer in Johnstown. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1987. She was a graduate of the former Dale High School, Class of 1936, as was her husband, Jay. In her early years, she was an employee of Glosser Bros. Department Store. She and Jay were members of Westmont Presbyterian Church for many years. After her marriage, she was content to be a loving and devoted wife, mother, homemaker and excellent cook. Betty spent her last days under excellent care at the Presbyterian Home of Johnstown. Betty is survived by two sons, Jeffrey D. “Denny,” married to Sandra, Bedford, and Rodney L. “Roddy,” Forestville, Calif. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Dale S. Guyer, Johnstown; Aaron K. Guyer, Garner, N.C.; Bethany L. Alberter, Johnstown; and Stephanie J. Fassinger, Pittsburgh. She also is survived by five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Lucas, Samuel and Elsie. Brother, Ronald, Johnstown, and sisters, Nina, Hilton Head, S.C., and Carol, Tulsa, Okla., survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay; a son, Timothy J., and his wife, Janice E. (Goebert); and a brother, Eugene K. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Bruce Cadenhead, officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
