Zora Dukovich

Johnstown — DUKOVICH – Zora, recently living in San Diego, Calif., passed away Feb. 7, 2013. She was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Johnstown, the first daughter of Stevo and Kata (formerly Hrkman) Saula. She was preceded in death by loving husband of 55 years, Michael Dukovich; brothers, Lazo and Dushan Saula; and sisters, Olga Jendricks and Natalie Papaila. She is survived by her brother, Sylvester Saula, and wife, Barbara; daughter, Stephanie Pejic, and husband, George; son, Dr. Mitchell Dukovich, and wife, Marie; and granddaughters, Cristina and Erica. Zora attended Franklin Borough High School, and upon graduation from Clarion State University of Pennsylvania, she became a teacher in the Conemaugh School District. Michael and Zora married in 1946 and resided in Export, Pa., until 2001. She was an active member of the Murrysville Garden Club, Eastern Star and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. As a devoted Eastern Orthodox Christian, Zora was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church of Wilmer-ding, and later Monroeville, Pa. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Kolo Sisters of Export. In her later years, Zora lived in San Diego with son, Mitchell, and family and was an active member of the Poway Weingardt Senior Community Center and St. George Serbian Orthodox Church of San Diego. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Zora was beloved by many, had a fun-loving and warm heart and will be fondly remembered by family and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, where small Panachida will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 971 St. Clair Road, Johnstown, the Rev. Dragan Zaric, officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Reception will follow at St. Nicholas Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Zora’s memory to the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 2110 Haymaker Road, Monroeville, Pa. 15146 or for those parishioners in Johnstown, to the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church of Johnstown.
