BABIK – Helen V., 92, Johnstown, died Nov. 3, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital. Born Oct. 24, 1920, in Johnstown, daughter of Stephen and Maria (Kucera) Laco. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael R. Babik; son, Timothy; brothers, Stephen, Nicholas and Cyril Methodius Laco; and sister, Louise Varmecky. She is survived by her children, Eugene Babik, Pittsburgh; Gregory, married to the former Susan L. Griffith, Johnstown; and Michelle, wife of Thomas L. Beblar, Johnstown; grandchildren, Wendy Murphy; Stephen and Michael Babik; Christopher and Daniel Babik; and Nicholas, Zachary and Joshua Beblar; stepgrandchildren, Matthew and Luke Lindsey; and great-grandchildren, Patrick and Sarah Murphy and Clifford Moehler. A former member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, where she was a founding member of the Ladies Guild. Served for 60 years as secretary/treasurer of Lodge 28; Jr. Branch 364, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association; Turners Auxiliary; and Band Hall Auxiliary. A 1939 graduate of Johnstown High School. Helen retired from Glosser Bros. and Gee Bee Stores. Member of Resurrection Parish, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Father Alan Thomas and Father Andrew Stanko, officiating. Committal service at Grandview Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St. Condolences can be sent to the family at ozogfh.com.
