INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — SIMKO – Pearl (Pekich), 87, Indianapolis, Ind., and Johnstown, died Aug. 16, 2012, at Golden Living Center, Richland. Born May 9, 1925, in Johnstown, daughter of Dragich and Julia (Verbjar) Pekich. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Steve; son, Eli; brothers, Ted, Pete, Stanley and Nicholas; sister Mary Slisz; and son-in-law, Wayne Miller. Survived by children, Robert (Carol), Hollsopple; Stephen Jr. (Pat), Veedersburg, Ind.; Sally (Barry) and Sylvia, both of Indianapolis; and Joseph (Donna) and Mark (Sandy), both of Johnstown. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Sister of Eli Pekich, Johnstown. She was a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church. Pearl enjoyed the love of her family, and spent most of her life as a loving homemaker. Friends received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro. Pomen will be sung at 7 p.m. Monday. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
