ANDERSON, S.C. —
PIERCE – Gail Ann (Boxen), 68, died peacefully at her home in Anderson, S.C., on Dec. 19, 2012. Gail was born Jan. 24, 1944, in Windber, daughter of John Boxen and Ethel “Toby” Boxen. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Doris “Gram” Burchill; husband, Larry E. Pierce; and beloved daughter, Kimberly Lynn Pierce. Gail is survived by her son, Larry Pierce, Morris Plains, N.J.; brother, John “Greg” Boxen, Somerset; and nieces, Laura Boxen, Windber, and Jennifer Boxen, Staten Island, N.Y. Gail was a 1961 graduate of Windber Area High School. After graduating from Carnegie College, Cleveland, Ohio, she was employed by Lee Hospital, Johnstown. She retired from Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, N.J. Gail raised her children in Flanders, N.J. She also lived in East Stroudsburg, before relocating to South Carolina in 2008. Gail will be forever remembered for her love of people and her passionate love for animals. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. At Gail’s request, all arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Gail’s memory and her love for animals are asked to make donations in her name to their local animal shelter or rescue organization.
