Sara R. Oaks

JOHNSTOWN — OAKS – Sara R., 95, Johnstown, died Jan. 14, 2013, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born Nov. 1, 1917, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Archie E. and Jennie J. (White) Rager. Preceded in death by husband, Raymond H. Oaks Sr.; brothers, Joseph, Archie and Sylvester; and sisters, Virginia, Edna and June. Survived by sons, Raymond H. Jr. (Joyce Freeburn) and Richard H. (Linda Darby); and daughter, Karen, married to David Stem, all of Johnstown. Also survived by grandchildren, Carrie, Darren, Lee, Craig, Sarah and David; great-grandchildren, William, Robbi, Hunter, Cameron, Olivia, Reagan, Alexa and Aiden; sister, Betty Browning; and brother, Jack Rager. Sara was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, Senior Citizens Organization, Middle Taylor Fire auxiliary and Middle Taylor Township Citizens Group. She was a retired bookkeeper from the Johnstown Senior Activities Center. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, Pastor Philip A. King, officiating. Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset St., Windber, Pa. 15963.
