NICKTOWN — KIRSCH – Richard J., 89, formerly of Nicktown, passed away Jan. 17, 2013, at Golden Living Center-HAIDA surrounded by his family. Born Dec. 9, 1923, in Spangler, son of Jacob P. and Lucy C. (McCarty) Kirsch. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Mary Regina; and brothers, Irvin, Gerald and Vincent. Survived by sisters, Camilla Wolf, Canton, Ohio; Lucille Hoover, Hastings; Anna Mae Knechtel, Inverness, Fla.; and Ruth (Edward) Born, Hastings; brothers, Max (Diana) Kirsch, Port Charlotte, Fla.; James (Louise) Kirsch, Northern Cambria; Florentz Kirsch, Northern Cambria; and Timothy (Carole) Kirsch, Solsberry, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was a retired woodsman. Member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown. He enjoyed woodworking, having made furniture, skis and sleds. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, Pa. 15722, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown, by the Rev. Thaddeus E. Rettger, OSB. Committal, church cemetery.
