PLAYA-DEL-REY, CALIF. — GRIFFIN – Barbara A. (Hartnett), passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at her home in Playa-Del-Rey, Calif. Daughter of Vincent E. and Irene E. (Siehl) Hartnett. After graduating from Johnstown High School, where she also served as a member of the cheerleading squad, Barbara completed the Mercy Hospital Nurses Training Program. Several years later, she also completed the United Airlines Stewardess Training Program making her eligible for flights over water. During her time as a stewardess, Barbara visited virtually all of the large cities in Europe and Asia. She also volunteered for many flights with the military to assist in the return of the wounded from Vietnam. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jay Griffin, who was a United Airlines pilot. Survived by brothers, V. Donald Hartnett, and family; and Dr. Robert W. Hartnett, and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
