EBENSBURG — GONGLOFF – John, 79, Rebekah Manor, Ebensburg, formerly of Mineral Point, died peacefully Feb. 1, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born Aug. 13, 1933, in Loretto, son of the late Richard C. and Catherine A. (Webb) Gongloff. Preceded in death by wife of 51 years, Janet, in 2004, and brothers, Paul, David, Thomas and James Gongloff. Survived by sons, Gary, married to the former Kathy Jessell, Johnstown, and Terry, married to the former Margie Wirfel, Summerhill; grandchildren, Susanne, Stephens City, Va.; Gary Gongloff, and his fiancee, Natalie Krampy, Mineral Point; Mark, married to Natalie Lawrence, Martinsville, Va.; and Kristi, wife of Corey Millward, Nanty Glo; and great-granddaughter, Alley, Martinsville, Va. John was the brother of E. Jane Gongloff, Loretto; Dorothy (Roy) Litzinger, Patton; Helen (John) Barlick, Cresson; and Betty (Don) Mento and Robert (Darlene) Gongloff, both of Loretto. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Janet Baker Gongloff, Loretto, and Rita Walters Gongloff, Mundys Corner, and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church. Retired from Bethlehem Mines and Holy Name School. John enjoyed many years of hunting with his sons and grandsons, cutting firewood and tractor and quad riding in the woods. Member of UMWA. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Entombment, Holy Name Mausoleum. In lieu of other memorials, donations are encouraged to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in John’s memory.
