PITTSBURGH — MITNIK – Terence L. “Terry,” 61, Pittsburgh, formerly of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord Feb. 10, 2012, at Oakland VA Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Jan. 4, 1951, in Johnstown, son of the late John N. and Jennie M. (Fisher) Mitnik. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, John S. Mitnik. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda L. (Connell) Mitnik; son, Dana A., married to the former Angela L. Border, Turtle Creek; siblings, Mary, wife of Richard Pawlus, Florida; Margaret Reese, Florida; and James, married to the former Susan Ribblett, Butler; sisters-in-law, M. Lynn Mitnik, Florida; Barbara Connell, Johnstown; and JoAnn Ferris, New Florence; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. Terry was a 1969 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Terry was employed at Bethlehem Steel as a welder and later was a teacher at Power Safety International. He then went to work as a teacher at Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center and later became a welding engineer at Trinity Industries and the former GKI. Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, motorcycling and restoring cars, but he especially loved spending time with his entire family. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, the Rev. Robert N. Abarno officiating. Entombment, Richland Cemetery Mausoleum, with military rites conducted by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League Detachment 287.
