GALLITZIN — PETERS – Rudolph F., 88, Gallitzin, died Nov. 18, 2012, in his home. He was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Gallitzin, son of the late Antonio and Filomena (Rea) Petrarca. He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Gorman, Arthur, Guido and Alfred, and sisters, Adeline and Lena. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Regina (Pawlowski); children, Cathy Peters Reese, Laura Burdett and Joan Grassucci, Gibsonia; Mark Petrarca, Altoona; Donald Peters, Virginia Beach; Linda Armitage, Mechanicsburg; and Sandra Peters, Encinitas, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. Rudolph was a 1942 graduate of Gallitzin High School. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving as a hospital corpsman in the Pacific. He graduated from St. Francis University with a B.S. in biology and P.T. Watson Physical Therapy School on the G.I. Bill. He retired as a physical therapist from the VA Hospital in Altoona after 17 years service before starting a medical supply company, which he sold in 1991. He was a lifelong and faithful parishioner of St. Demetrius Parish, Gallitzin, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held Tuesday afternoon.
