OHIO — KUBEK – Mary Louise (Vince), 89, Ohio, died Nov. 4, 2012, following a brief illness. Born July 1, 1923, and was raised in Johnstown, one of eight children. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1942. She earned her RN in 1945 at St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and was a member of the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps. After graduation, she moved and took a job at the Cleveland Clinic, where she met her husband, Robert Bruce Kubek, MD. They married in 1953, residing in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, where they raised five children. Her passion and pride revolved around her family, which was always her priority. She remained active in health care for 50 years as a bedside nurse at the Cleveland Clinic, a clinical instructor and eventually finishing her career as a paramedic clinical instructor at Cuyahoga Community College, Ohio. Following her husband’s death in 1988, she retired to Hudson, Ohio, and eventually Florida. She was a lifelong swimmer, dog fancier, real estate and stock investor, and loved to knit and needlepoint. Survived by children, Carol Gianis, MBA, Summit, N.J.; Kimberly Kirkpatrick, M.D., Villanova, Pa.; Bonnie White, M.D., Jacksonville, Fla.; Robert J. Kubek, M.D., Atlanta, Ga.; and Tamara Morgan, R.N., Hudson, Ohio; sister-in-law, Betty Vince, Johnstown; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at First Baptist Church, 3630 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
