JENNER TOWNSHIP — BARNICK – John L., 93, Jenner Township, Somerset County, died Dec. 12, 2012, at Somerset Hospital. Born Nov. 28, 1919, in Jenner Township, son of Steve and Mary (Nagy) Barnick. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Pauline Hemminger; and brothers, George and Edward. Survived by wife of 64 years, the former Betty Jane Adams; children, D. Sue, married to Robert R. Berkey; Larry J., married to Carol Bumbarger; and Dennis E., married to Deborah Lehman, all of Jenner Township; and Debbie J. Schaefer, St. Francis, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Minnie, married to Robert West, Romeo, Mich. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Marjorie Barnick, Jenner Township; and Annabelle Barnick, Jennerstown; and numerous nieces, nephews and other in-laws. Member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown; Somerset County Farm Bureau; and Pennsylvania Holstein Association. A 40-year member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66. A World War II Army veteran. He was a retired Jenner Township farmer. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell. Viewing also will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Laurel Trinity Church, Pastor Traci Bowman, officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery, with graveside military rites accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard.
