Anna M. Burskey

CARROLLTOWN — BURSKEY – Anna M., 96, Carrolltown, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Feb. 20, 2013, at Golden Living Center-HAIDA, Hastings. Born Sept. 3, 1916, in Carrolltown, daughter of the late Frank and Angeline (Halady) Gwizdak. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Burskey Sr., on Oct. 14, 1988; daughter, Barbara Burskey Fletcher, on April 19, 1993; and son-in-law, Elmer Fletcher. She was the last remaining sibling of brothers, Joe, Pete, Tony, Mike and Stanley, and sister, Mary Cymbor. Survived by children, Joseph (Myra Castro), Fairfield, Pa.; Frank (Bonnie Swisher), Dave, Gloria and Jerry (Lou Mortensen), all of Carrolltown; and Jeannie, Sterling, Va.; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Gwizdak, Carrolltown. Anna leaves a legacy of love and prayers for her 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Anna was raised on the family farm outside of Carrolltown. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. She enjoyed her years as a sacristan at St. Benedict’s church. Her favorite hymn is “How Great Thou Art” and her favorite picture is “Jesus Standing at the Door Knocking.” We will miss our wonderful mother and grandmother until we are reunited. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, Pa. 15722, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, by concelebrants the Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB, and the Rev. Richard Ulam. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Anna’s memory to St. John Bosco Orphanage, c/o Sister Celine Kirsch, Mercy Boys Home, 175 Shribastant St., Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, Guyana.
