PODRASKY – Mrs. Cheryl L., 50, Windber, passed away after a long battle with cancer May 13, 2008, at home. Born Sept. 24, 1957, in Windber, daughter of Sterling and Harriet (Phillips) Blough. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Charles; and sister, Bernice “Sis” Welsh. Survived by husband of 30 years, Donald G. Sr., and these children: Angela, wife of James Beechan, Windber; Jennifer “J.J.,” wife of Nicholas Heinrichs, South Fork; Donald, Jr.; and Derek, and his special friend, Anna Orris, Johnstown; grandchildren: Mason and Dominic Waite and Nevaeh Podrasky; brothers, Ronald, married to the former Gail Thomas; Richard, married to the former Pauline Freidline; and Marlin, married to the former Brenda Speicher; sisters, Gloria, wife of John Smith; Carol, wife of Harold “Ike” Sterner; Shelvia Weaver; and Trudy, wife of Francis “Sonny” Stein; sister-in-law, Janet King; brother-in-law, Russell Welsh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cheryl was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She also loved her job of 13 years as the Windber Area High School’s morning baker. Member of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Ronald St. Clair officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, Pa. 15963, in memory of Cheryl.
