Thomas J. Keene

KEENE – Thomas J., 85, Plum, formerly of Penn Hills, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, surrounded by family. Beloved and devoted husband for 57 years of Jean (Leon) Keene. Devoted father of Sandy (Art) Monheim, Carol (Steve) Merck-Papp, Patty (Rick) Genday and Tom (Stacy) Keene. Adored grandfather of A.J., Mandy, Heather, Tarra, Brian, Stephen, Jeremy, Chelsi, Christie, Shannon, Brittany, Ashley, Stephanie and Courtney. Great-grandfather of Morgan and Kyler. Son of the late George W. and Ella Keene. Brother of the late George Keene and the late twin sisters, Mildred and Marion. He worked 41 years with Thorofare Markets and co-owned Shaler Plaza Foodland with his brother, George. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served his country honorably. Tom was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf and woodworking after retirement. He devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Maurice L. Knee, LTD, Funeral Home, 7663 Saltsburg Road, across from S&T; Bank, Plum. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Thursday at Our Lady of Joy Church. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Verona.
