John J. Lacey

LACEY – John J., 77, passed away Feb. 6, 2010, in Clearwater, Fla. Born Aug. 11, 1932, and was raised in Ebensburg. Preceded in death by father, Joseph L.; mother, Margaret (McQueeney); and sister, Patricia Friday. Survived by his loving wife, Carole (Gilkey); daughter, Jennifer; and grandchildren, Alyson, Samuel and Aaron Caplea. He leaves behind sisters, Evelyn Felix, Rosemary Dondanville and Dorothy Mehler; as well as extended family and friends, including mother-in-law, Loretta Gilkey. Graduate of Ebensburg Cambria High School and furthered his education at St. Francis University, Loretto. Jack was a Korean War veteran, and worked as a salesman in the mining industry. Jack was a special person who lived a full life. He was best-known as an avid golfer and was a member of Summit Country Club. Jack also was a sports enthusiast, great dancer and devoted husband, father and loyal friend. Jack was truly a fun-loving man who brought a smile to those who knew him best. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren. A special thanks to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast for their care and support.
