Joseph W. Balogh

JOHNSTOWN — BALOGH– Joseph W.,  74, Johnstown, died May 13, 2011, at home. Born Sept. 11, 1936, in Bronx, N.Y., son of the late Stephen and Irene (Kopstein) Balogh. Survived by devoted wife of 52 years, Francine (Balazik) Balogh of Johnstown. Loving and devoted father to Michael, Pittsburgh; Victoria, Phoenix, Ariz.; Matthew, Victorville, Calif.; and Nicole, married to David Aulik, Golden, Colo. Also survived by former daughter-in-law, Akiko, Okinawa, Japan; loving grandchildren, Gianna, Jordan and Margot; sisters-in-law, Patti Pavlosky, and husband, Joe; Bertie Deter, and husband, Bill; Carol Lencki, and husband, Randy; and Peggy Lane, and husband, Brian; and numerous nieces and nephews.  New Jersey National Guard member.  Joseph was a graduate of George Washington University, Class of 1958. Owner of the Trenton Book Shop in Trenton, N.J., and  owner and proprietor of the former Tiffany's Bakery in the Richland Mall.  He was an employee for Prudential Insurance Co. in Johnstown and was transferred to Phoenix, Ariz., until he retired from Prudential in 1995. Moved back to Johnstown and worked for American General Insurance.  Joseph was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan and a Pittsburgh Panthers football and basketball fan as well.  Joseph loved animals and his beloved dogs, Baron, Chelsea and Juno. He also enjoyed the many coffee get-togethers with the guys.  At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing.  The family will receive friends and relatives at the Joseph and Francine Balogh residence from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.  Private inurnment at the convenience of the family. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Drive Extension, Johnstown, Pa. 15904 or to Habitat for Humanity, 1086 Franklin St., Johnstown, Pa. 15905, in memory of Joseph Balogh.  Arrangements in care of Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc.
