Storms, other problems close Somerset, Indiana county campgrounds

SALTSBURG — A storm that downed power lines and trees has closed a campground at a popular state park in Indiana County, while unrelated water problems are closing the grounds at a Somerset County park, too.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers expects to reopen the camping area at Loyalhanna Lake Bush Recreation Area near Saltsburg, Indiana County, on Friday. A boat launch at Loyalhanna Lake also had to be closed because water levels to rise to unsafe levels that caused floating debris. The boat launch will reopen once the water recedes and the area can be cleaned.

Separately, the Tub Run Campground near Confluence, Somerset County, is closed until further notice because a tank that supplies water to the park is leaking. All campground reservations are being canceled and refunded for at least the next two weeks.
