Indoor bike park to open in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — A western Pennsylvania man says he plans to open the state’s first indoor bike park this winter.

Harry Geyer says the former warehouse in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood will include mountain biking trails, a BMX trick park, and an area for beginners. It’s called The Wheel Mill.

Geyer says he got the idea from the nation’s first indoor bike park, which opened in Cleveland in 2004.

Eric Boerer of Bike Pittsburgh, an advocacy group, says the idea is great for the city, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

The 80,000 foot park will offer seasonal, weekend and daily passes, and bicycles for rent.
