Robin L. Quillon | Toe-tapping musical at Cresson

— Looking to take your gal or guy on a great date this week or next?

Do yourself a favor and call 472-4333 and reserve your tickets to see “Legally Blonde” at Cresson Lake Playhouse.

The show is based on a novel by Amanda Brown and a motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon.

Remaining performance times are 8 p.m. today through Saturday and Aug. 7-11 with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Ticket prices are $17 for adults and $10 for students 18 and younger.

You can also check out the playhouse’s website, CressonLake.com, for additional details.

My wife and I went to see this Cresson Lake musical this past weekend and we were blown away by how great it was. You literally leave shaking your head in amazement, realizing that we have such talented young actors right here in our backyard.

Director Molly Riva of Altoona did an outstanding job pulling this cast and crew together.

The best compliment I can pay is they fit together like a well-oiled machine.

There are no weak performances by anyone in this show, which is fresh, funny and a toe-tapper.

The live band in the loft is as good as I’ve heard in a long time.

Every actor is “miked,” so you hear every song and note with perfect clarity.

The playhouse itself is so quaint and almost a theatre-in-the-round. So the audience is really close to the acting action.

Trust me, you will be glad you went!
