Students vie to create best logo for benefit

For the third consecutive year, the Patricia McTonic Benefit Run asked the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center’s graphic design and multimedia class to design a logo for its annual motorcycle run.

This is one of the many contests that the center’s students participate in.

Class members take part in poster contests, T-shirt contests and logo contests throughout the school year.

All 30 students in the graphic design class participated in this contest to see who could design the best logo.

Cullen Kozak, a sophomore, designed the winning logo for the seventh annual run. He received $100 in prize money for his entry.

Kozak said he “was really surprised and felt really accomplished that I achieved a goal I set out to do.”

The Patricia McTonic Benefit Run is a motorcycle rally that was created to generate donations for Windber Hospice.

Since the hospice is a nonprofit organization and no one is denied services, the money it receives goes toward patient services, medical equipment and transportation.

The graphic design students are proud to use their artistic skills to design a logo that helps this organization raise money for patients in need.
