It's always Christmas for the Christmases of Pa.

BUCKINGHAM — It's Christmas year-round for a Pennsylvania family whose name has a definite holiday ring to it.

Robert and Stacey Christmas— and Robert's mother, Carol Christmas— say it's fun having such an unforgettable name, but it can also pose a challenge.

The suburban Philadelphia family told The Intelligencer of Doylestown that their name is a source of "constant jokes" around the holidays.

"We have an annual Halloween party, and everyone is always confused by the Evite: The Christmases are hosting a Halloween party," Stacey said.

When Stacey heads to the stores for some holiday shopping, she has to be sure to carry a couple of forms of identification. Cashiers often look at the name on the credit card and think it's fraudulent.

It can also be tough to order takeout.

"When you order a pizza at the holidays it doesn't come because they think it's a joke," said Carol, who, after 35 years, recently moved from Holland to Buckingham.

The name also brings expectations.

The family used to display a Christmas tree in their house year-round. When they sold that home last month they left the Christmas lights, instructing the new homeowners that neighbors expect the house to be brightly decorated.

The couple says they love the name but were careful not to name their children Mary, Eva or Nicholas.

When their children, Luke, 8, and Olivia, 6, were very young, they believed the world was celebrating Dec. 25 on their behalf. Now, their Bucks county classmates think the name is cool.
