Boys

Northern Cambria 57


Penns Manor 47

NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Adam Polites had 19 points and Josh Bonatesta had 14 as Northern Cambria beat visiting Penns Manor to improve to 12-2 after a Heritage Conference contest.

Jeff Hogan added 10 points, and Nick Lee had nine points and nine rebounds for the Colts.

Shawn Stewart had 18 points and Danny Ferens had 11 for Penns Manor.

Harmony 30


CRESSON – A. J. Leahey had 16 points and Nathan Keagy scored 13 to lead Penn Cambria.

Tyler Tiesi’s 11 points topped the visitors.

Bedford CIA 31


MUNDYS CORNER – The Panthers bounded out to a 20-1 lead after a quarter and parlayed the advantage to a comfortable win over Bedford CIA.

Jon Perry’s eight points led Cambria County Christian, which saw 14 players register points.

The Agents’ Dillion Hudson tallied a game-high nine points.

MUNDYS CORNER – Despite being held scoreless in the second quarter, host Cambria County Christian maintained its early lead and held off Bedford CIA.

Alexis Wolfe had 25 points and nine rebounds while Panthers teammate Natalie Sokira scored 17 points and collected 10 rebounds.

The Agents’ Leanna Dunn scored 15 points.

Bishop McCort 63 Bishop Carroll 51

Jill Kegg scored 20 points, Emily Daley had 16 and Leah Bridges added 14 to lead Bishop McCort over visiting Bishop Carroll.

Lauren Wyland’s 15 points topped the Huskies, who got 13 from Krista Krug.

Conemaugh Twp. 44 Ferndale 18

DAVIDSVILLE – Lindy Baer’s 16 points and Katie Reckner’s eight rebounds led Conemaugh Township.

Blacklick Valley 48


Carly Gruss and Abby Menett scored 12 points apiece and Jen Percinsky added 11 to lead the Blue Jays.

Gruss also finished with six steals, while teammate Jamie Cekada had eight points and nine assists.

Brooke Rhoades led the Vikings with 13 points, while Allison Verba added 12.

Bishop Guilfoyle 64

Johnstown 23


Elyssa Ehredt had 16 points and Kayla Bates had 15 to lead Bishop Guilfoyle to victory at Greater Johnstown.

Janay Myers had 11 to lead the Trojans.

Cambria Heights 34


Sarah Pfeil scored 34 points and Alexis Dona added 11 to lead Richland to a win at home.

Serafina Bills had 12 points to front the Highlanders.

Turkeyfoot Valley 59


CONFLUENCE – Becca Muha scored 42 points and Lexie Rapsky added 10 in Shade’s win on the road. Muha grabbed 14 rebounds and Rapsky had 13. Shade’s Alexis Meck made six steals.

Katie Ryan had 20 points and Maddie Bender 11 to lead the Rams.

Windber 66

North Star 42


WINDBER – Jill Penatzer scored a game-high 21 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Windber past visiting North Star.

Teammate Ongie Null also had a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Cheyenne Feathers had nine points and seven assists.

Amanda Lohr led North Star with 12 points.

    The AAABA League opens on Tuesday at Point Stadium with two new, but familiar managers, a new but familiar sponsor, an expanded interleague schedule and two new franchises committed to the 2013 season.
    A lot of activity took place during the offseason, including the AAABA national committee’s vote to expand the age limit to 21 years old beginning in 2013.

    Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
    The Richland senior had state record jumps  twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
    1¾ inches.
    Defending state champion, second-seeded  junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½.

    Matt Dull finished his athletic career with his best on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
    The Chestnut Ridge senior ran a career-best time of 38.12 to finish second in the 300 hurdles final, also setting another school record.

    Matt Hague was hit by a pitch from Rafael Dolis with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates sent the Chicago Cubs to their 11th straight loss with a 3-2 victory Saturday night.
    Hague took a 96 mph fastball from Dolis (2-4) in the back near the shoulder blade, scoring Jose Tabata and eliciting an incredulous look to the sky by the Cubs reliever.
