GREENSBURG – Seton Hill used a 10-5 run to close out the game and hand Pitt-Johnstown a WVIAC loss on Saturday.
Nick Novak had a game-high 22 points for UPJ, which slipped to 8-7 overall and 5-7 in the conference. Bill Luther finished with 13 points.
UPJ out-rebounded Seton Hill 32-24, sank 26 of 54 from the field, and hit nine of 12 from the foul line. The Griffins ended the day 26 of 50 from the field and 14 of 18 at the stripe.
David Windsor’s 14 points led three Seton Hill players who scored in double figures.
Sacred Heart 75
St. Francis 72
LORETTO – Shane Gibson scored 23 points as Sacred Heart took its first lead early in the second half and held on to defeat St. Francis in Northeast Conference action.
The Pioneers (6-11, 4-2) fell behind by eight early, but rallied to tie it at 37 at halftime.
Ben Millaud-Meunier, who led the Red Flash with 20 points, hit his third 3-pointer with one second left for the final margin. Earl Brown had 14 points and 15 rebounds for St. Francis.
Penn Highlands 65 CCAC-Allegheny 59
Penn Highlands improved to 5-7, 1-2) with a win over CCAC- Allegheny.
Grant Speigle hit five
3-pointers in his 17-point effort to lead the Black Bears. Rashaud Kelley added 15 points while Jordan Swauger and Jermaine Graves scored 14 and 13, respectively.
Medaille 79
Mount Aloysius 63
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Mount Aloysius suffered a setback in a battle of the ACCC’s top two teams.
Second-ranked Medaille jumped out to 16-1 lead early before Mount Aloysius narrowed the gap to just four points. When foul trouble sent several Mounties players to the bench, Medaille took a 46-31 halftime advantage
Mount Aloysius committed 16 second-half turnovers and was unable to chip any further into the Medaille lead.
“Except for the turnovers, it was basically an evenly played game,” Mount Aloysius coach Lance Loya said. “We both were 12-17 from the foul line. We both shot 43 percent, and we both connected on five 3-pointers. The difference was they got 20 more shots off than us because of our turnovers.”
Jeff Stem topped Mount Aloysius with 16 points. Dameon Turner added 13 points.
Women
Pitt-Johnstown 56 Seton Hill 50
GREENSBURG – Nicole Carman scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Kaitlynn Fratz added 17 points to help the Lady Cats overcome poor shooting and hold on for a WVIAC win at Seton Hill
UPJ improved to 8-7 overall, 6-6 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats got 10 early points from Carman and held Seton Hill to just 4 of 24 shooting in the first 15 minutes of the game to open up up 25-17 lead on a Rachel Johnson 3-pointer.
The Griffins dropped to 10-7 overall, 7-4 in the WVIAC.
Sacred Heart 71
St. Francis 50
LORETTO – Sacred Heart picked up its second Northeast Conference win of the season in a nationally televised victory at St. Francis.
Alli Williams paced the Red Flash (9-7, 4-1) with 20 points and 10 rebounds, earning her 11th consecutive double-double.
Ericka Norman scored 16 points to lead a Pioneers (10-7, 2-3) attack that saw five different players score in double figures. Brittany Lilley had 12 points for St. Francis, but the Red Flash got just four points from its three other starters.
Medaille 81
Mount Aloysius 61
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Despite 20 points from Lindsy Sammarco, Mount Aloysius lost.
An Emily Brophy 3-pointer at the 13:38 mark sparked a 20-2 run that allowed the Medaille to take a 50-28 lead at the half.
Medaille’s largest lead of the game was 24 points with just over 7 minutes to play.
Becky Bard added 14 points for Mount Aloysius and Olivia Rupp had 10 points.

Latos (6-1) hadn’t lost a regular-season game since last August, setting a club-record streak of avoiding defeat. He couldn’t overcome Pittsburgh’s three-run first inning. -

When NCAA runner-up Rick Lamb made four birdies over a six-hole stretch during the fourth round of the 60th Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions, he couldn’t help but notice every time he looked at the leaderboard, Lamb failed to pare down his deficit.
When Cory Whitsett, who recently helped Alabama win a national championship and was competing in his third Sunnehanna Amateur, birdied Nos. 3 and 4 Sunday morning, the fast start wasn’t one to savor.
