Tomahawks to take part in campaign

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Tomahawks, in partnership with BIC, will participate in Movember, a campaign that raises awareness and funds for men’s cancers and other health issues during November.

The Tomahawks, along with more than 550 players from the other 23 NAHL teams, will grow moustaches throughout the month to show support and earn donations for these causes, particularly prostate and testicular cancers.

Today, Tomahawks players will join their hockey brothers around the country by shaving their faces. For the next 29 days, each young man will grow out and style his moustache, while keeping the rest of his face clean-shaven.

The fans, friends and family members of players are encouraged to donate to the cause by visiting the team’s official page at http://us.movember.com/team/442845. Fans and players can also tweet photos of their moustaches to @NAHLHockey.

Defenseman Cody Bentzel will serve as the Tomahawks Movember team captain.

“Movember is a fun time of the year,” said the 6-3, 225-pound defenseman from Dauphin. “We all get to see people who don’t normally have facial hair grow it out for a great cause. We’re happy to be participating.”
