BERLIN – Kyle Cooney’s 21 points led Berlin while Ryan Lynch added 12 and Drew Glotfelty had 11 in a narrow win Monday over visiting Blacklick Valley.
Dalton Cesarz had a game-high 25 points for the visitors, who got 16 from John Sheesley.

Luke Shertzer had 15 points and Kyle Flick added a dozen as Richland defeated visiting Windber.
Andy Mock’s 20 points topped the Ramblers.
Conemaugh Valley 49 Rockwood 19
ROCKWOOD – Conemaugh Valley’s Dalton Uncapher scored a team-high
20 points as the Blue Jays beat host Rockwood.
The Rockets were led by Luke Miller’s seven points. Valley is 2-1.
Salisbury-Elk Lick 75 Ferndale 57
SALISBURY - Alex Beiler scored a game-high 25 points and dished out six assists as Salisbury-Elk Lick topped visiting Ferndale.
Brandon Miller added 23 points and
10 rebounds for the Elks, who also got
16 points from freshman Diori Pattison.
Salisbury was 14 of 16 from the free-throw line including going 7 of 8 in the fourth quarter.
Brady Gates led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points while teammate Chad Eisenhuth chipped in 15 and Isaiah Sajatovich had 10.

SHANKSVILLE – Carter Slade scored 15 points and had nine rebounds as host Shanksville-Stonycreek defeated Portage.
Jake Duppstadt had 14 points and Jordan Wilt added 11 points, six rebounds and five assists. Nick Bittner netted nine points and had five assists for the Vikings.
Jake Bryja led Portage with 14 points.

MUNDY’S CORNER – Tyler Berkebile had 13 points and Tyler Gary 11 to lead host Cambria County Christian to a one-sided win.

12 points as Cambria County Christian defeated visiting Calvary Baptist of Clymer.
Lauren Maykovich and Wolfe each had eight rebounds.
Diana Marshall netted 13 points for Calvary Baptist.

EBENSBURG – Kayla Legros had
13 points and Lauren Wyland had 10 points as Bishop Carroll beat visiting Johnstown.

NANTY GLO – Four Blacklick Valley players scored in double figures led by
13 points apiece from Alison Verba and Breanna Rege as the Vikings opened the season with a victory.
Brooke Rhoades and Heather Marsh each chipped in 11 points for Blacklick, which also got 14 rebounds from Verba.
Lindsay Welteroth had 12 points to lead the Owls.

PATTON – Serafina Bills had 13 points while Kara Cordell and Emily Crowe added 10 each to lead Cambria Heights.
Sydney Geary’s 14 points led the Golden Eagles.

EBENSBURG – Gina Rievel led four Westmont Hilltop players in double-digit scoring with 16 points as the Hilltoppers beat host Central Cambria.
Erin Rodgers had 13 points and Paige Lamberson had 12 for Westmont, now 3-0. Brittany Davis added 10 points for Hilltop.
Taylor King-Brothers had a team-high 16 points for Central Cambria.
Forest Hills 77 Bedford 24
SIDMAN – Becky Bard had 25 points, five steals and two assists to lead Forest Hills.
Casey Gallaher had 16 points, six steals and five assists for the Rangers.
Maggi Secrest led Bedford with 11 points.

CRESSON – Jill Kegg scored 18 points and teammate Beth Sheridan added 15 as Bishop McCort opened the season with a road victory over Penn Cambria.
The Panthers were led by 16 points from Brianna Kearney and 10 from Brianna Mulhern.

ALTOONA – Kaylee Bates had 23 points to lead Bishop Guilfoyle to victory.
Katie Gehlmann’s 16 points and five assists led Richland. Sarah Pfiel scored

AAABA League will open after busy offseason
The AAABA League opens on Tuesday at Point Stadium with two new, but familiar managers, a new but familiar sponsor, an expanded interleague schedule and two new franchises committed to the 2013 season.
A lot of activity took place during the offseason, including the AAABA national committee’s vote to expand the age limit to 21 years old beginning in 2013. -

Richland's Lumley settles for pair of silver medals
Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Richland senior had state record jumps twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
1¾ inches.
Defending state champion, second-seeded junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½. -
Ridge’s Dull takes second with school-record time
Matt Dull finished his athletic career with his best on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Chestnut Ridge senior ran a career-best time of 38.12 to finish second in the 300 hurdles final, also setting another school record. -
Hit batsman lifts Pirates over Cubs
Matt Hague was hit by a pitch from Rafael Dolis with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates sent the Chicago Cubs to their 11th straight loss with a 3-2 victory Saturday night.
Hague took a 96 mph fastball from Dolis (2-4) in the back near the shoulder blade, scoring Jose Tabata and eliciting an incredulous look to the sky by the Cubs reliever. -
Generals return to defeat Sting
