Westmont 75, Bishop Carroll 58
EBENSBURG – A quartet of Hilltoppers scored 10 or more points as Westmont remained unbeaten in LHAC play with a win at Bishop Carroll. Brittany Davis led the guests with 16 points while teammates Alyssa Yewcic, Erin Rodgers and Paige Lamberson scored 15, 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Huskies’ Dani Link registered a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Lauren Wyland scored 13 points and Gabby Gueguen tallied 12 in the loss.
Bishop McCort 40, C. Heights 30
PATTON – Jill Kegg scored a game-high
27 points, including six 3-pointers, as Bishop McCort overcame a slow start to earn a road win.
The Highlanders were led by 15 points from Danielle Bodek.
Central Cambria 64, Johnstown 47
EBENSBURG – Central Cambria used a big third quarter to pull away from Johnstown.
The Red Devils led 27-22 at the half before outscoring the Trojans 23-9 in the third. Emily Wright led Central Cambria with 25 points. Breanne Taylor added 13 points and Taylor Swatsworth had 10.
Chartice Wyatt scored 18 points for
Johnstown. Tynesha Smith chipped in 16.
Forest Hills 61, Richland 36
SIDMAN – Amy Wiesheier’s 18 points and 14 rebounds paved the way for Forest Hills to top visiting Richland.
Casey Gallaher shared Wiesheier’s game-high total in points with 18 while Becky Bard added 11 points.
Kaija Holtzman’s 12 points led the Rams.
North Star 43, C. Township 31
DAVIDSVILLE – Bradie Rhoades scored
10 points to lead North Star to a road win over Conemaugh Township.
Katie Reckner had a double-double for the Indians with 12 points and 14 rebounds. She also had four steals.
Ligonier 57, Homer-Center 50
LIGONIER – Four different Rams reached double figures in scoring as Ligonier Valley topped Homer-Center.
Kristen Gabelt and Courtney Bridge led the Rams with 15 points each while Maddy Grimm scored 11 and Kyra Ludwig chipped in 10. Gabelt also yanked down nine rebounds in the win.
Maggie McLoughlin’s 12 points led the Wildcats while Catelyn Skinner and Sydney Horel each scored 10.
Northern Cambria 39, Saltsburg 35
NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Kelley Sedlock scored 13 points to lead Northern Cambria to a narrow win over visiting Saltsburg in a Heritage Conference matchup.
Trisha Gabrielson topped all scorers with 14 points for the Trojans.
Penn Cambria 66, Somerset 51
CRESSON – A double-double from the Panthers’ Brianna Kearney – 23 points and 13 rebounds – along with a 25-13 edge in third-quarter scoring boosted Penn Cambria to a LHAC win.
Mia Pyo contributed 14 points in the victory.
Emily Satkovich’s 11 points paced the Golden Eagles.
Blacklick 64, Portage 53
PORTAGE – Carley Smith scored 15 points to lead a trio of Blacklick Valley players in double figures in a WestPAC road victory.
Danielle Lesso added 13 points for the Vikings (13-5) while Jami Kish had 10.
Kaitlyn Dividock had 19 points and five rebounds for Portage (10-6). Olivia McCabe grabbed 16 rebounds, five blocks and four steals to go along with her nine points.
Windber 50, Ferndale 24
WINDBER – Rachel Lovely’s game-high
16 points led the way for the Ramblers in a senior night victory over Ferndale.
Cheyenne Feathers chipped in 12 points for Windber.
The Yellow Jackets were topped by Elizabeth Chobany’s 15 points.
High School Boys
Forest Hills 52, C. Valley 47
The visiting Rangers were buoyed by Luke Gallaher’s game-high 23 points as they clipped the Blue Jays.
Tanner Thomas had 13 points and pulled down nine boards for Forest Hills.
Hunter Furman led Conemaugh Valley with 22 points while Brandon Kendera registered 13 rebounds.

There were times earlier in his career when James McDonald would run into trouble and innings would slow to a crawl. Even worse, runners would disappear, and not in a good way.

AAABA League will open after busy offseason
The AAABA League opens on Tuesday at Point Stadium with two new, but familiar managers, a new but familiar sponsor, an expanded interleague schedule and two new franchises committed to the 2013 season.
A lot of activity took place during the offseason, including the AAABA national committee’s vote to expand the age limit to 21 years old beginning in 2013. -

Richland's Lumley settles for pair of silver medals
Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Richland senior had state record jumps twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
1¾ inches.
Defending state champion, second-seeded junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½. -
Ridge’s Dull takes second with school-record time
Matt Dull finished his athletic career with his best on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Chestnut Ridge senior ran a career-best time of 38.12 to finish second in the 300 hurdles final, also setting another school record. -
Hit batsman lifts Pirates over Cubs
Matt Hague was hit by a pitch from Rafael Dolis with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates sent the Chicago Cubs to their 11th straight loss with a 3-2 victory Saturday night.
Hague took a 96 mph fastball from Dolis (2-4) in the back near the shoulder blade, scoring Jose Tabata and eliciting an incredulous look to the sky by the Cubs reliever. -
Generals return to defeat Sting
It’s been a dramatic month for the Johnstown Generals.
