Nemo Trexler’s double-double paved the way for the Crimson Crushers’ home win over Central Cambria. Trexler led his squad with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Billy Hipp scored 13 and Jerqual Wilson scored 12.

The Panthers overcame a six-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter by outscoring Richland 24-9 to secure a Laurel Highlands win.
A.J. Leahey torched the nets for 32 points in the win.
Kyle Flick led a trio of Rams in double-figure scoring with 18 points, Zach Solarczyk tallied 16 and Zach Hanley added
13 for the hosts.

Quentin Brandon’s 23 points and
12 rebounds led the way for Westmont, which got 14 points from Joe Glennon and 10 by Stephen Flick.

PATTON – The Red Devils outscored Cambria Heights 27-16 in the second half to overtake the hosts in a Laurel Highlands clash.
Taylor King-Brothers and Bri Wasser each scored 13 for Central Cambria while Katie Bracken pitched in 11 points.
Lindsey Kosicki’s 23 points paced the Highlanders.

DAVIDSVILLE – Carly Baer’s 21-point effort boosted the Indians as they topped Berlin in a battle of WestPAC unbeatens. Katie Reckner supplied 18 points and 15 rebounds for Conemaugh Township. Lyndy Baer distributed seven assists in the win.
Shelby Coughenour scored 14 points and Laura Etris added 12 more for the Mountaineers.

HOMER CITY – Maggie McLaughlin and Katelyn Skinner scored 17 and 15 points, respectively, to lead Homer-Center.
Gabby Pizur’s 12 points topped the Colts.

Conemaugh Valley got 12 points from Jamie Cekada and 11 by Jen Percinsky on its way to victory over visiting Meyersdale.
Abby Stahl led the Red Raiders with 15.
Carly Gruss had six rebounds and four assists for the Blue Jays while Percinsky and Cekada also had four assists each.

HOLSOPPLE – Penn Cambria raced out to an early lead and rolled to an easy 30-point win over host Johnstown Christian.
Brianna Kearney paced the winners with 19 points. She was the lone player to reach double figures. With the victory, the Panthers improved to 4-2.

LIGONIER – Kristen Gabelt scored 19 points and Stephanie Heming had 10 to go with 14 rebounds in leading Ligonier Valley.
Maddy Grimm had five rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Rams, who got three rebounds, two steals and three assists from Kyra Ludwig.

PORTAGE – Emily Chobany scored
22 points, grabbed eight steals and gave out six assists to lead Portage.
Olivia McCabe had 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for the Mustangs, while Paisley Zatek made eight steals.
Becka Muha’s game-high 25 points led Shade.

WINDBER – Jill Penatzer had 16 points to lead four double-digit efforts for Windber.
Nicole Vasas scored 12 for the Ramblers while Cheyenne Feathers and Ongie Null added 10 each. Feathers also had 11 assists and five steals while Penatzer and Vasas had six steals each.
Kaya Stockenus and Kayla Maust led Shanksville with 18 and 15 points, respectively.

There were times earlier in his career when James McDonald would run into trouble and innings would slow to a crawl. Even worse, runners would disappear, and not in a good way.

AAABA League will open after busy offseason
The AAABA League opens on Tuesday at Point Stadium with two new, but familiar managers, a new but familiar sponsor, an expanded interleague schedule and two new franchises committed to the 2013 season.
A lot of activity took place during the offseason, including the AAABA national committee’s vote to expand the age limit to 21 years old beginning in 2013. -

Richland's Lumley settles for pair of silver medals
Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Richland senior had state record jumps twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
1¾ inches.
Defending state champion, second-seeded junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½. -
Ridge’s Dull takes second with school-record time
Matt Dull finished his athletic career with his best on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Chestnut Ridge senior ran a career-best time of 38.12 to finish second in the 300 hurdles final, also setting another school record. -
Hit batsman lifts Pirates over Cubs
Matt Hague was hit by a pitch from Rafael Dolis with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates sent the Chicago Cubs to their 11th straight loss with a 3-2 victory Saturday night.
Hague took a 96 mph fastball from Dolis (2-4) in the back near the shoulder blade, scoring Jose Tabata and eliciting an incredulous look to the sky by the Cubs reliever. -
Generals return to defeat Sting
