ALTOONA – Brad Caldwell scored 27 points – 15 from the foul line – to lead Cambria Heights. Nate Bearer added 11 to the winning total.
Brian Logue topped the hosts with 16 points.
Westmont 61, Bedford 46
Zach Drennen scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Westmont to a win over visiting Bedford.
Joe Glennon added 13 points for the Hilltoppers while Marcus Shippey topped the Bisons with 12 points.

Central Cambria 61
EBENSBURG – Luke Gallaher scored a team-high 32 points, Tanner Thomas chipped in
16 and Kody Johnson had 10 as Forest Hills downed host Central Cambria.
Zack Vigneault had 32 points to top the Red Devils.
Blacklick Valley 54, Ferndale 20
NANTY GLO – Dalton Cesarz scored 10 points and Johnny Sheesley added 13 in Blacklick Valley’s win.

CRESSON – Bishop Carroll forced 32 turnovers on its way to a win at Penn Cambria.
Dylan Link topped the Huskies with 16 points while Marc Maruca and Nick Lassak each had 11.
A.J. Leahey had 13 points for the Panthers.
Richland 56, Somerset 45
Dereck Malzi had 27 points, 10 rebounds and four steals to lead Richland past Somerset.
Kyle Flick added 11 for the Rams.
Brent Barron led Somerset with 10 points.
Portage 56, Windber 55
PORTAGE – Sean Cronauer’s 18 points led Portage to a narrow win in overtime.
Troy Scoran had 11 points and Jake Bryja 10 for the Mustangs.
Brett Lucas and Andy Mock led Windber with 18 and 15 points, respectively.

Westmont 75, Bedford 34
BEDFORD – Alyssa Yewcic scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Gina Rievel added 11 points and five assists.
Summer Hartung had 12 points for the Bisons, who also got 10 from Kacy Blevins.

BERLIN – Conemaugh Township’s Katie Reckner scored 12 points to lead all scorers in a loss at Berlin.

PATTON – Halee Adams scored 19 points, Kayla Bates added 17 and Kelsey Livotti had
15 as Bishop Guilfoyle (5-0) cruised to a road win, remaining unbeaten.
Danielle Bodek topped the Highlanders scoring with 18 points while Serafina Bills had
10 points.

SIDMAN – Becky Bard had 12 points to lead all scorers, Amy Weisheier grabbed
13 rebounds and Casey Gallaher had seven steals and 10 assists to lead Forest Hills.
Emily Wright had 15 points to lead the visitors.
Johnstown 39, Bishop McCort 36
Amber Mangus sank a pair of free throws in the final seconds to seal Johnstown’s win over Bishop McCort.
Tynesha Smith led the Trojans with 19 points while Chartice Wyatt had 11 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocks.
Jill Kegg had 11 points for McCort.
Conemaugh Valley 46
Meyersdale 36
MEYERSDALE – Conemaugh Valley outscored its host 10-0 in overtime for the victory.
Nikki Ledwich scored a game-high 13 points to lead Conemaugh Valley. Katie Vena’s 11 points topped Meyersdale.
Abby Menett had eight rebounds and five steals for the Blue Jays.
Portage 61, Shade 60
CAIRNBROOK – Emily Chobany scored
17 points, Olivia McCabe had 11 and Emily McCabe provided 10 as Portage nipped host Shade.
Emily Gibbons topped the Panthers with 17 points and dished out five assists while teammate Chelsey Pongrac added 14 points and five assists.
Shade also got 11 points and 11 rebounds from Becca Muha, 10 points and 11 rebounds from Ashley Manges and 15 rebounds from Aubrey Polochak.
Baseball
Pirates shuffle minor league managers
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted P.J. Forbes to manager
of Double-A Altoona, replacing Matt Walbeck.
Walbeck was fired less than two weeks after Altoona won the Eastern League championship last season.
Forbes previously managed at rookie-level Bradenton, which will now be managed by
former Pirates first base coach Carlos Garcia.
Dean Treanor, formerly the pitching coach, moves up to manager of Triple-A Indianapolis.
Frank Kremblas, who previously managed Indianapolis, replaces Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister as the organization’s coordinator of instruction.
Dave Turgeon, previously the pitching coach at Virginia Tech, will manage Class A State College.
Gary Robinson, State College’s manager last season, moves up to Class A West Virginia.

Pirates pick up fourth straight victory
There were times earlier in his career when James McDonald would run into trouble and innings would slow to a crawl. Even worse, runners would disappear, and not in a good way.
Too much thinking. Not enough attacking. -
AAABA League will open after busy offseason
The AAABA League opens on Tuesday at Point Stadium with two new, but familiar managers, a new but familiar sponsor, an expanded interleague schedule and two new franchises committed to the 2013 season.
A lot of activity took place during the offseason, including the AAABA national committee’s vote to expand the age limit to 21 years old beginning in 2013. -

Richland's Lumley settles for pair of silver medals
Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Richland senior had state record jumps twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
1¾ inches.
Defending state champion, second-seeded junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½. -
Ridge’s Dull takes second with school-record time
Matt Dull finished his athletic career with his best on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Chestnut Ridge senior ran a career-best time of 38.12 to finish second in the 300 hurdles final, also setting another school record. -
Hit batsman lifts Pirates over Cubs
Matt Hague was hit by a pitch from Rafael Dolis with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates sent the Chicago Cubs to their 11th straight loss with a 3-2 victory Saturday night.
Hague took a 96 mph fastball from Dolis (2-4) in the back near the shoulder blade, scoring Jose Tabata and eliciting an incredulous look to the sky by the Cubs reliever. -
Generals return to defeat Sting
It’s been a dramatic month for the Johnstown Generals.
