NEW YORK —
Three players from The Tribune-Democrat’s coverage area have been named to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers’ All-State Football Team in Class A and another was in Class AAA.
Windber running back Colin Bryan, Berlin Brothersvalley defensive lineman Jacob Craig and Bishop McCort offensive lineman Zach Rugg were among the Class A honorees while Greater Johnstown linebacker Alkwan Williams was selected to the Class AAA squad.
Bryan ran for 2,352 rushing yards and scored 37 touchdowns for the Ramblers. At 6-foot-5, 269 pounds, Rugg was a force on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Crimson Crushers, who averaged nearly 300 yards per game offensively. Craig made 145 tackles - including 58 solo stops - and 10 sacks from his defensive end position to go along with three interceptions.
Williams, a Pitt recruit, finished with 136 tackles - including 31 for loss - and four sacks for the Trojans.
The Class AA and AAA squads will be announced on Thursday.
