JOHNSTOWN — Baseball

Stoystown 7 Claysburg 6

CAIRNBROOK – Brett Hart hit a grounder that was misplayed by Claysburg in the bottom of the ninth, allowing two runs to score and giving host Stoystown the victory Monday in the Cambria County League.

Andrew Glessner was 2 for 3 and drove in two runs, Cody Kiser was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Lance Blough was 2 for 5 with a double for Stoystown (9-10). Nathan Defibaugh and Hart each scored two runs.

Presley Swope was 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Trey Claar was 2 for 5 with a triple, a home run and two runs scored and Tyler Ickes was 2 for 4 with a double and a run batted in for Claysburg (17-3).

Cameron Darr was the winning pitcher.

Meyersdale 16-11 Portage 14-1

MEYERSDALE – Meyersdale swept a doubleheader over Portage, winning the first game – a continuation of an earlier contest – in nine innings, and taking the second win in six innings.

Kirk Davis was 3 for 4 while Justin Donaldson went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs for Meyersdale.

Tyler Nesbella and Spencer Price were both 3 for 4 for Portage.

In the second game, Ryan Lynch was 3 for 4 with two home runs and eight RBIs while Donaldson and Steve Haer had two hits apiece.

Nesbella and Evan Price each had two hits while Bailey Kerch scored Portage’s lone run in Game 2.

Haer was the winning pitcher in both games.

Cernic’s 5, Patton 4

PATTON – Adam Westrick had two hits, including a solo home run, and Brian Nickel also had a solo homer in leading Cernic’s.

Patton got a two-run home run from Jarid Ivory.

Richland 7

Ebensburg 0

Richland used a five-run fifth inning to cruise to a shutout over Ebensburg at Tony Penna Field.

Ryan Orlovsky tossed a shutout, scattering six hits and striking out four without walking a batter. Orlovsky also contributed at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Cameron Kaminsky added two hits and Alex Paros scored two runs for Richland (5-12).

John Grimes had two hits for Ebensburg (7-11).

GOLF

Kush wins at Ebensburg CC

EBENSBURG - Johnstown’s Andrew Kush won the boys age 10-12 Pine Valley Division of the North East Junior Tour stop held at Ebensburg Country Club on Monday.

Kush fired a 90 to finish two strokes ahead of Altoona’s Andrew Ferguson.

Northern Cambria’s Hunter Duriez was second in the boys age 13-15 Pine Valley Division while Armagh’s Brock Matava was tied for second in the boys 16-18 Oakmont Division.
