Windber 62, Meyersdale 49
MEYERSDALE – While Meyersdale’s Katie Vena eclipsed the 1,000-point mark on her birthday, it wasn’t enough for the Red Raiders, who fell at home to Windber.
The Ramblers were led by Courtney Petrunak’s game-high 18 points. Jill Penatzer added 17 in the win.
Alexandra Yutzy scored 10 for Meyersdale.
Portage 54, Berlin 51
BERLIN – Kaitlyn Dividock scored 17 points to lead Portage in a narrow win at Berlin.
Kelsie Spaid had 12 points for the Mustangs, who got
11 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots from Olivia McCabe.
Shelby Coughenour’s 14 points led the hosts, with Marah Riley and Jordan Eutsey adding 11 and 10, repectively.
Blacklick Valley 56, Rockwood 28
ROCKWOOD – The Vikings’ Jami Kish scored 17 points while Carley Smith added
13 points in a win over the Rockwood.
Danielle Lesso poured in 10 points for Blacklick Valley.
Kayla Emert’s 14 points led Rockwood.
Conemaugh Twp. 51, Salisbury-Elk Lick 32
SALISBURY – The Indians led 37-14 at halftime en route to a victory over the host Elks.
Lindy Baer had 19 points to lead Conemaugh Township.
Lydia Hale-Cooper led Salisbury-Elk Lick with 12 points while teammate Alayna Harshberger scored 10.
Richland 44, Somerset 30
The Rams’ Kaija Holtzman scored 14 points while teammate Katie Gehlmann added
11 points in a home victory.
Richland outscored Somerset in every quarter and broke open a two-point game at halftime with a 15-5 scoring edge in the third quarter.
High School Boys
Johnstown 70, Richland 33
Quentin Brandon scored
23 points and handed out seven assists to lead Johnstown over visiting Richland.
Isaiah Haselrig had 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Trojans, while teammate Dwight Andrews scored 14.
Dereck Malzi’s 22 points paced the Rams.
Bishop Carroll 56, Bishop Guilfoyle 50
EBENSBURG – Dylan Link scored 14 points while fellow Huskies Ryan Woo and Nick Lassak scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, in a win over the Marauders.
Brian Logue’s 24 points paced Bishop Guilfoyle.
Blacklick Valley 57 Rockwood 45
ROCKWOOD – Dalton Cesarz scored 14 points, Victor Manda added 13 and Nick Stefanick had 10 in leading Blacklick Valley.
Colin Yachere’s 10 points topped the hosts, and his
10 rebounds gave him a double-double.
Central Cambria 58, Cambria Heights 34
PATTON – A game-high
24 points from Zack Vigneault proved to be the difference as the Red Devils topped Cambria Heights.
Central Cambria bounded out to a 22-4 lead after a quarter en route to the victory.
Isaac Vescovi and Zach Prohonic each had 10 points for the Highlanders.
Forest Hills 71, Penn Cambria 63
SIDMAN – Luke Gallaher scored 29 points and teammate Tanner Thomas scored 26 as the Rangers outgunned Penn Cambria.
The Panthers, who connected on 12 3-pointers, were led by A.J. Leahey’s 28 points. Kevin Quinn pitched in 12 for the guests.
J. Christian 44, Turkeyfoot Valley 34
HOLSOPPLE – A game-high 18 points from Kevin Shook led the way for the Blue Jays as they scored a victory over the visiting Rams.
Jake Tuck added 10 points in the win.

There were times earlier in his career when James McDonald would run into trouble and innings would slow to a crawl. Even worse, runners would disappear, and not in a good way.
Too much thinking. Not enough attacking. -
AAABA League will open after busy offseason
The AAABA League opens on Tuesday at Point Stadium with two new, but familiar managers, a new but familiar sponsor, an expanded interleague schedule and two new franchises committed to the 2013 season.
A lot of activity took place during the offseason, including the AAABA national committee’s vote to expand the age limit to 21 years old beginning in 2013. -

Richland's Lumley settles for pair of silver medals
Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Richland senior had state record jumps twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
1¾ inches.
Defending state champion, second-seeded junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½. -
Ridge’s Dull takes second with school-record time
Matt Dull finished his athletic career with his best on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Chestnut Ridge senior ran a career-best time of 38.12 to finish second in the 300 hurdles final, also setting another school record. -
Hit batsman lifts Pirates over Cubs
Matt Hague was hit by a pitch from Rafael Dolis with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates sent the Chicago Cubs to their 11th straight loss with a 3-2 victory Saturday night.
Hague took a 96 mph fastball from Dolis (2-4) in the back near the shoulder blade, scoring Jose Tabata and eliciting an incredulous look to the sky by the Cubs reliever. -
Generals return to defeat Sting
It’s been a dramatic month for the Johnstown Generals.
