Johnstown driver Billy Eash avoided a multi-car crash to score his first victory Friday in the late model feature race at Dog Hollow Speedway.
Repeat winners included Dan Angelicchio of Greensburg in the Fastrak late models, Jim Boyer of Indiana in the street stocks, Tim Laughard of Vinco in the pure stocks and Ray Hickok Jr. of Commodore in the four-cylinder sidewinders.
The weather threatened all around the track as 86 cars filled the pits, including 18 late models, eight Fastrak late models, 14 street stocks, 18 pure stocks and 26 four-cylinders.
n Cousins Chris and Leroy Booher staged a nip-and-tuck battle in the four-cylinder feature Saturday at Thunder Valley with Chris grabbing the victory in a photo finish.
In the other races, Steve Everhart won his third race in five programs this season and his ninth overall at Thunder Valley in the late model feature while Greg Cornell scored his fourth victory in the semi-lates.
n Rainouts occurred at Bedford and Motordrome last week.
This Friday at Bedford, the track will feature the first-ever visit of the Independent Racing Series (IRS) super late models, which will be running for $5,000 to win. The limited late models will be racing for $1,000 to win and the hobby stocks feature winner earns a double purse.
Motordrome will run its postponed fan appreciation night with $5 admission and fireworks on the agenda along with regular five-division racing.
n The winners at Jennerstown included Mark Smith in the super late models, Thomas Knight Jr. in the street stocks and Deidre Petrie in the hobby stocks.
The track will hold a regular three-division program plus super mini-cups this week.
n Kevin Bolland scored his 40th career Lernerville Speedway feature win in the modifieds while Ed Lynch Jr. dashed to his 92nd Lernerville feature win in the sprint car feature.
Kenny Schaltenbrand broke a five-year Lernerville win drought with a last lap pass for the late model victory and Bob Egley survived a caution-riddled feature to win his third race of the season in the street stocks.
The win was Bolland’s third of the season and moves him into sole possession of fifth place on the modifieds all-time wins list ahead of Ed Lynch Sr.
Ed Lynch Jr. and Egley also won in their respective divisions for the third time this season.
The track will feature a regular four-division racing program this Friday and will hold the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XVII for the World of Outlaw sprint cars on July 15.
n The 33rd running of the Yankee Doodle 50 was held Thursday at Central Pennsylvania Speedway in Clearfield.
Keith Barbara earned his first victory at the track in the late model feature while Dan Smeal won the street stock feature, his third straight.
Chub Frank, Mike Blose, Jared Miley and Shawn McGarvey finished second through fifth in the late model feature.
