JOHNSTOWN —
The 5th annual Brad Wess Memorial Scholastic Showcase will be played on Sunday at Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
The all-star hockey game will begin at 6 p.m.
Thirty-four seniors from eight local high schools will participate in the game. Schools represented include Bishop McCort, Conemaugh Valley, Ferndale, Forest Hills, Johnstown, Richland, Somerset and Westmont Hilltop.
Brad Wess died in an automobile accident on Oct. 19, 2007. He was a junior at Forest Hills High School, where he achieved high honors and also participated in hockey. He planned to study for a career in engineering after graduation.
In conjunction with the Showcase, the Brad Wess Memorial Scholarship will be presented to a local high school senior for academic excellence, community service, leadership, sportsmanship and a positive attitude as a member of the school’s hockey program.
Forest Hills’ Chad Davis will coach the Green team. He will be assisted by Rangers staff members Brock Golesich, Scott Wertz and Ethan Blough. The Gold team will be coached by Ferndale’s Brian Riffle, Somerset’s Matt Cavrak, Johnstown’s Sean McTighe, Richland’s J.J. Vasilko, Conemaugh Valley’s Eron Callahan, and Bishop McCort’s John Bradley.
The Green team includes: Goaltenders Seth Fry (Forest Hills) and Adam Ayre (Westmont); defensemen Greg Walters (Ferndale), Brad Rastall (Bishop McCort), Jake Plows (Forest Hills), Joshua Thomas (Ferndale) and Evan Good (Westmont); and forwards Matt Yost (Ferndale), Galen Dorian (Westmont), Dylon Hudson (Johnstown), Stephen Grasser (Richland), Juuso Jormakka (Johnstown), Zachary Block (Bishop McCort), Matt Rager (Conemaugh Valley), Jett Smith (Somerset), Spencer Zock (Forest Hills), and Maks Zaverukha (Ferndale).
The Gold team includes: Goaltenders Jimmy Stenger (Bishop McCort) and Samuel Kociola (Somerset); defensemen Zak Kindya (Westmont), Stephen Spruell (Somerset), Colton Dull (Ferndale), John Kurchak (Ferndale); and forwards Luke Kmett (Johnstown), Craig Cassick (Johnstown), Robert McConnell (Ferndale), Jacob Toth (Ferndale), Hunter Skyles (Forest Hills), Cheyenne Sabo (Forest Hills), Benjamin Urban (Ferndale), Noah McQuillan (Westmont), William Devlin (Ferndale), Jared Adams (Forest Hills) and Brett Pribulsky (Ferndale).

Richland's Lumley settles for pair of silver medals
Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
The Richland senior had state record jumps twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
1¾ inches.
Defending state champion, second-seeded junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½. -
