Boys

Greater Johnstown 68, Penn Cambria 67


CRESSON - Phillip Madison hit a 3-point field goal at the buzzer to give Greater Johnstown a narrow victory over host Penn Cambria on Monday night.

Madison finished with 19 points while Alkwan Williams added 18, Dwight Andrews had 15 and Mark Watson, 14.

A.J. Leahey led all scorers with 22 points for the Panthers.

Johnstown (8-1), which trailed by as much as 14 points in the third quarter, inbounded the ball with 1. 5 seconds remaining and got the ball into Madison’s hands for the gamewinner.



Westmont Hilltop 62, Bedford 45

BEDFORD - Westmont Hilltop’s Joe Glennon scored a game-high 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, as the visiting Hilltoppers belted host Bedford.

Quentin Brandon added 17 points for Westmont (8-1), which also got nine rebounds from Stephen Flick and six assists from Glennon.

The Bisons were led by 22 points from Tyler Black while Haden Hess provided 12 points.



Bellefonte 80, Cambria Heights 56

BELLEFONTE - Jason Jarvis scored 28 points and John Kuwalchuk added 21 as host Bellefonte defeated Cambria Heights.

Three Highlanders scored in double figures led by

12 from Dom Milanesi and 11 each from Isaac Vescovi and Kevin Lacue.



Hollidaysburg 59, Bishop Carroll 41

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Hollidaysburg jumped out to a 22-10 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a win over visiting Bishop Carroll.

The Huskies (5-7) were led by Ryan Lauer, who scored 18 points. Scott Ranck added 17 points in the loss. The Golden Tigers improved to 4-5 with the win.



Northern Cambria 73, Portage 51

PORTAGE – Josh Bonatesta poured in 27 points and Adam Polites added 22 as the Colts routed Portage.

Jeff Hogan also hit double figures, scoring 12 for the winners.

Portage was led by Jesse Kreutzberger and Jake Bryja, who scored 15 points apiece.

Northern Cambria is now 8-2. Portage slipped to 3-5.



Cambria County Christian 63,  Belleville Mennonite 54

BELLEVILLE - Dom Williams scored a game-high 24 points and teammate Ty Maykovich added 15 as Cambria County Christian earned a road win.

Sam Morgan and Garret Byler scored in double figures for Belleville with 21 and 16 points, respectively.

Penn Cambria 51, Cambria Heights 45


PATTON - Penn Cambria outscored host Cambria Heights 11-5 in overtime to come away with a Laurel Highlands Section 1 win.

Brianna Kearney scored a game-high 25 points for the Panthers (7-2), who also got 10 points from Tori Shingler.

The Highlanders got 21 points and 11 rebounds from Amanda Short while Jamie Snedden chipped in with 13 rebounds.



Bishop Guilfoyle 67, Central Cambria 24

EBENSBURG - Elyssa Ehredt had 12 points and Devin Stessney, 11, as Bishop Guilfoyle improved to

10-1 with a Laurel Highlands Section 1 win at Central Cambria.

There were no Red Devils who scored in double figures.



Forest Hills 73, Bishop Carroll 36

SIDMAN – Becky Bard inched closer to the 1,000-point milestone as the Rangers crushed the Huskies.

Bard scored 20 points, leaving her just 10 shy of 1,000. She will attempt to reach that mark on Friday night. Also in the win, Casey Gallaher scored 15 and Briana Kostan added 11.

Dani Link topped the Huskies with 17 points.

Forest Hills is 10-0. Bishop Carroll fell to 4-6.



Richland 35, Bishop McCort 33

Richland rallied for a win over Bishop McCort.

Kaija Holtzman (12 points) and Katie Gehlmann (11) led the Rams, who improved to 7-3.

Larissa Swank paced the Crushers with 10 points.

Richland improved to 7-3 and Bishop McCort slipped to 5-4.



Westmont Hilltop 62, Greater Johnstown 22

Visiting Westmont Hilltop rolled out to a 53-2 halftime advantage on its way to a Laurel Highlands Section 2 victory at Greater Johnstown.

Three Hilltoppers scored in double figures led by Gina Rievel with 15 points. Paige Lamberson added

13 points and Erin Rodgers provided 11 points, 10 steals and five assists for Westmont (9-1), which shot 20 of

33 from the floor in the first half.

Janay Myers had eight points to lead the Trojans, who also got 10 rebounds, six points and three blocked shots from Tashayla Smith.



Johnstown Christian 54, Turkeyfoot 34

HOLLSOPPLE - Johnstown Christian jumped out to a 20-2 first-quarter lead and cruised to an easy win over visiting Turkeyfoot Valley, the Blue Jays first victory of the season.

Kayla Conahan paced the Blue Jays with 16 points. Samantha Haynes added 13. Turkeyfoot was led by Brittany Diehl’s 12 points.



Ligonier Valley 53, Greensburg Central 45

LIGONIER – Ligonier Valley built a solid first-half lead en route to its eighth win of the season.

Kristen Gabelt dumped in 26 points and pulled down 10 boards in the win. Heather Bosco led Greensburg Central with 13.

The Rams improved to 8-2. The Centurions suffered their first loss of the year and are now 7-1.



North Star 52, Rockwood 36

ROCKWOOD – North Star broke open the game with 14 third-quarter points as it routed Rockwood.

Ellie Fleegle led the winners with 13 points while Chantelle Ansell added 11.

Sara Romesburg scored 10 points in the losing effort.

Both teams are 3-6.



Portage 74, Salisbury-Elk Lick 39

SALISBURY - Olivia McCabe had a double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds as Portage picked up a road win.

Kaitlyn Dividock added 13 points for the Mustangs (7-3), who also got 12 points, seven rebounds and five blocks from Emily McCabe along with 11 points and five assists from Emily Chobany.

Alayna Harshberger led all scorers with 24 points for the Elks.



Windber 60, Shade 25

CAIRNBROOK - Windber hit nine 3-pointers and built a 43-8 halftime lead on the way to a road win at Shade in a WestPAC non-section contest.

Jill Penatzer topped a trio of Ramblers (6-4) double-digit scorers with a game-high 20 points while teammate Steph Ponczek had 11 points and Cheyenne Feathers, 10.

Becca Muha paced the Panthers with 11 points.

    Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
    The Richland senior had state record jumps  twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
    1¾ inches.
    Defending state champion, second-seeded  junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½.
