Late goal sinks Rangers

JOHNSTOWN — It appeared that there were more players scratched than skating during Friday night’s Laurel Mountain Hockey League varsity game at Planet Ice in Richland Township.

The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders and Forest Hills Rangers each battled through the game short on depth, but not on effort. Bishop Guilfoyle’s Joseph Dombrowski’s power- play goal with 1:16 remaining proved to be the difference as the Marauders edged Forest Hills 4-3.

“We had a system for a short bench and we stuck with it and got the shots on net,” Bishop Guilfoyle coach John Antesberger said. “Their goalie, Seth Fry, is a good goalie, so you gotta send a lot of rubber his way.”

In winning, Bishop Guilfoyle (7-5) avenged an earlier loss to the Rangers while bouncing back from an 8-0 loss to Somerset on Thursday while gaining two points on Forest Hills (9-3-3) in the league’s standings.
