Windber 91

North Star 89 (OT)

BOSWELL  - In a thrilling game that went down to the wire, Windber knocked off North Star in a high scoring affair.

The game was tied at the end of regulation, but Windber got what it needed in OT to eke out the win on Monday night.

Jill Penatzer led the Ramblers with 33 points, including seven three-pointers. Steph Ponczek added 17 points and Cheyenne Feathers scored 10.

North Star was led by Amanda Lohr, who scored 31. Rachel Druist added 18 and Bradie Rhoades scored 17.

Windber improved to 3-1 with the win. North Star fell to 2-3.



Shade 49

Turkeyfoot Valley 47

CAIRNBROOK - Shade gutted out a close two-point victory against visiting Turkeyfoot Valley.

The Panthers were led by Becca Muha, who scored 26 points and pulled down 24 rebounds. She was the lone Shade player in double figures. Brittany Berkey chipped in with nine points and five steals. Turkeyfoot had two players in double digits. Brit Diehl scored 13 points while Maddy Bender added 11.

It was Shade’s first win of the season as it improved to 1-3. Turkeyfoot Valley slipped to 2-2.



Conemaugh Valley 58    Blacklick Valley 40

NANTY GLO  - Conemaugh Valley improved to 4-1 with an 18-point win over host Blacklick Valley.

Jen Percinsky paced the winners with 13 points. Blacklick Valley was led by Alison Verba, who scored 17. Allison Thomas also hit double figures with 12. Blacklick Valley slipped to 1-3 with the loss.

In the game Conemaugh Valley held Blacklick Valley to just 13 first-half points.



Penn Cambria 63

Richland 57

CRESSON - Penn Cambria got three players into double figures en route to a victory over visiting Richland.

Brianna Kearney led the way with 19 points, Brianna Mulhern added 17 and Megan Wheeler scored 11 in the win. The Rams got a total of 41 points from Katie Gehlmann and Sarah Pfiel.

Both teams are now 3-2.



Bishop McCort 47

Central Cambria 43

EBENSBURG  - Bishop McCort scored 13 third-quarter points to take command of the game and held off Central Cambria.

The Crushers were led by Jill Kegg, who scored 15 points. The Red Devils had two players in double digits. Bri Wasser scored 12 points while Katie Ley had 11.

The Crushers are now 4-1. The Red Devils slipped to 2-3.



Bishop Guilfoyle 62    Westmont Hilltop 47

ALTOONA - Bishop Guilfoyle jumped out to a 32-24 first-half lead and and never looked back in a 15-point win over visiting Westmont Hilltop.

Paige Lamberson (14), Gina Rievel (13) and Erin Rodgers (11) reached double figures for the Hilltoppers. Courtney Becker led the Marauders with 18 points.

It was the first loss of the season for Westmont Hilltop, which fell to 4-1. Bishop Guilfoyle improved to 5-0.



Cambria County Christian 44 St. Joseph Academy 25

MUNDYS CORNER - Alexis Wolfe scored 18 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out six assists to lead Cambria County Christian to a home win over St. Joseph Academy.

Natalie Sokira added 13 points for the hosts while Dora Maykovich provided 11 rebounds.

Rachel Wasbotten led St. Joseph with 11 points.



Berlin Brothersvalley 58 Rockwood 23

BERLIN - Brooke Wilson scored 13 points and Lauren Short added 12 as host Berlin pummeled Rockwood.

The Rockets were led by a game-high 16 points from Kelsey Zerfoss.



Bishop Carroll 57        Somerset 28

EBENSBURG - Brooke Mento led all scorers with 13 points as Bishop Carroll pelted visiting Somerset.

There were no Golden Eagles in double figures.



Cambria Heights 57    Bedford 52

PATTON - Casey Henry scored 19 points and Serafina Bills had 11 as Cambria Heights got by visiting Bedford.

Jamie Snedden added 10 rebounds for the Highlanders.

Maggie Secrest and Hannah Grimes both scored in double figures for the Bisons with 19 and 12 points, respectively.



Forest Hills 73

Greater Johnstown 21

SIDMAN - Four Forest Hills players scored in double figures led by 17 points from Marlee Zubek as the unbeaten Rangers (5-0) belted visiting Greater Johnstown.

Becky Bard had 14 points, 10 steals and eight assists for the hosts, which also got 12 points, 10 assists and four steals from Casey Gallaher along with 12 points, six rebounds and six steals from Briana Kostan. Zubek added five rebounds and teammate Caitlyn Gallaher provided 10 steals and 12 assists.

Brandi Young topped the Trojans with 11 points.



Penns Manor 48

Northern Cambria 28

NORTHERN CAMBRIA - Amber Mattis scored a game-high 19 points and Krista Gillo added 14 as visiting Penns Manor downed Northern Cambria.

The Colts were led by 13 points from Jenna Lecorchick.



Conemaugh Township 62    Ferndale 34

Lyndy Baer scored 14 points and Kelsey Smith had 13 as visiting Conemaugh Township downed Ferndale.

The Indians also got 11 points from Katie Reckner.

Ashley Grow topped the Yellow Jackets with 11 points while Cassandra Vivis and Elizabeth Chobany added 10 points each.



Ligonier Valley 56

Purchase Line 20

COMMODORE - Kristen Gabelt scored 18 points and added eight rebounds to lead Ligonier Valley to a road win over Purchase Line.

Kyra Ludwig provided 16 points for the Rams, who also got five rebounds each from Stephanie Heming and Maddy Grimm.

Casey Brocious topped the Red Dragons with 15 points.

Boys

Johnstown 64

Forest Hills 50

Alkwan Williams and Phillip Madison each scored 16 points as host Johnstown downed Forest Hills.

Williams also had 16 rebounds while Madison pulled down eight for the unbeaten Trojans (4-0), who also got 14 points and six assists from Mark Watson and 13 points from Dwight Andrews.

Neil Wysocki topped the Rangers with 11 points.



Bishop McCort 57

Richland 37

Four Bishop McCort players scored in double figures led by 14 from Jerqual Wilson in a win over host Richland.

Nemo Trexler added 12 points for the Crimson Crushers, who also got 11 from Jordan Salvia and 10 from Christian Leech.

The Rams’ Kyle Flick led all scorers with 18 points.

    Paige Lumley was on an emotional roller coaster and seeing silver on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
    The Richland senior had state record jumps  twice during the triple jump competition, but ended up with a silver–medal leap of 40 feet,
    1¾ inches.
    Defending state champion, second-seeded  junior Lanae Newsome of Brookville, won with a jump of 40-3½.
