UPJ will host Anderson today
Pitt-Johnstown will try to extend its winning streak to 13 straight dual meets today when the Mountain Cats host Anderson at the Sports Center.
UPJ, ranked first in Super Region I and fifth nationally, brings a 13-2 record.
Anderson, under 13th year coach Doc Kelly, comes in ranked 10th in Super Region I with a 4-15 dual meet record.
The Mountain Cats are led by All-Americans Dave Fogle (133 lbs.), Jack Bachman (149) and Travis McKillop (184) and national qualifier Gary Lantz (174).
The Mountain Cats wrap up their dual meet season on Wednesday with a home match against Shippensburg University in the Sports Center.
For the postseason, UPJ will travel to the Feb. 22-23 Super Region I Tournament at Kutztown University.
Later, the Mountain Cats will compete at the March 8-9 NCAA National Tournament in Birmingham, Ala.
BASKETBALL
C. Township 57 Ferndale 29
DAVIDSVILLE – Jeff Callihan scored 14 points and Dillon Boyer added 12 to lead Conemaugh Township past Ferndale Friday night in a WestPAC North game.
Chad Eisenhuth’s 18 points topped Ferndale. Jeff Fisher pulled down 12 rebounds for the hosts while Carlos Mason had seven for the Yellow Jackets.
Johnstown 69 Westmont 27
Three Greater Johnstown players scored in double figures led by Phillip Madison’s 17 points as the Trojans belted host Westmont Hilltop in a Laurel Highlands Section 2 game.
Shaquan Reid added 13 points and Daniel Barfield 10, for Johnstown, which charged out to a
39-16 halftime advantage.
No Hilltoppers scored in double figures.
Ligonier 52 United 38
ARMAGH – Kyra Ludwig, Helene Bloom and Maddy Grimm all scored in double figures for Ligonier Valley in a road win over United.
Ludwig finished with 14 points while Bloom had 13 and Grimm, 11 for the Rams (14-5).
For the Lions (10-10), Eden Bloom finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds and Laura Brilhart contributed six boards.
