State News in Brief | Kane airs first TV ad in campaign for AG

HARRISBURG — Democrat Kathleen Kane is airing her first TV ad in the general-election campaign for Pennsylvania attorney general and Republican nominee David Freed is preparing to follow suit.

Kane campaign spokesman Josh Morrow said Tuesday the ad began airing statewide on Monday – the same day the two candidates held their only debate.

In Kane’s 30-second spot, a narrator calls her “a prosecutor, not a politician” and says she’ll “clean up the corruption in Harrisburg.”

A spokesman says Freed’s campaign will put up an ad introducing him to voters this week and that he looks forward to a spirited final two weeks of the campaign.

The 68-year-old former Penn State assistant coach arrived early in the morning at the State Correctional Institute at Camp Hill, just outside Harrisburg, a state prison system spokeswoman said.

He faces testing and evaluation that will take a week or more before he can be assigned a security risk level and sent to one of the state facilities as his “home” prison.
