Property owner fires gun amid dead deer dispute

LIVERPOOL — State police say a dispute between a hunter and Pennsylvania property owner about a dead deer escalated into gunfire.

Police in Perry County say the hunter shot a deer on Nov. 26 but made it to a neighboring property before succumbing to its wounds. When the hunter tried to retrieve the deer, police say the property owner began yelling at him.

Investigators say the property owner retrieved a shotgun and fired into the ground, away from the hunter. No injuries were reported.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg reports the hunter declined to press charges.
