Deaths of Westmoreland County woman, son ruled homicides

ARNOLD — A mother and son have been found dead in their Westmoreland County home.

Westmoreland County detectives and Arnold police remained at the scene Friday at the home on Third Avenue in the tiny city about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, along the Allegheny River.

Police say the bodies were found about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Although authorities aren’t saying how the victim’s died, they say the deaths are being treated as homicides.

The Valley News Dispatch of Tarentum was reporting the bodies were found after a concerned friend contacted police, who forced their way into the home.

It was not immediately clear whether police have any suspects.
