INDIANA —
County commissioners have approved a contract to level a lot at an industrial park to help an Indiana County company build a new printing plant to replace one that burned in October.
The fire that destroyed Creps United Publications on Oct. 23 caused $75 million damage. The company prints newspaper advertising inserts.
Rather than rebuild, managing partner Jake Creps says in the Indiana Gazette report the company will instead open a new plant at the Windy Ridge Business and Technology Park in White Township.
The company laid off 110 of its 260 employees due to the fire, and Creps says it’s unclear how many may be recalled once the plant opens.
Creps hopes that will happen by September, which is why the $213,000 lot-leveling contract approved by the Indiana County Commissioner on Wednesday was key.
