Man killed by police serving mental health warrant

DALTON — Police say they fatally shot a man while trying to serve him with a mental health warrant at his northeastern Pennsylvania home.

Officers from three departments and state police were attempting to serve the warrant Wednesday night at the Overfield Township home of 42-year-old Brian Williams. Police say during an altercation Williams was hit with a stun gun then fatally shot.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials did not specify exactly what led up to the shooting. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

The Wyoming County district attorney’s office is investigating.
