ERIE — Authorities have identified a snowmobile driver who was killed when he collided with a sport-utility vehicle on a highway in northwestern Pennsylvania over the weekend.
State police say 41-year-old Timothy Oakes, of Saegertown, was thrown from his snowmobile and killed in the crash about 9:15 p.m. Saturday.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook pronounced Oakes dead at the scene on Old Route 99 in McKean Township. State police say Oakes’ snowmobile hit the oncoming SUV driven by 42-year-old James Stumpo of McKean. The other driver wasn’t hurt.
Police say Oakes was wearing a helmet when he crashed.
