Police: Student had pipe bomb in car

CHARLEROI — Police say a student has admitted to taking a pipe bomb to a western Pennsylvania high school last week.

The student allegedly had the device in his car and forgot it was there when he went to Charleroi High School, and two more bombs were found in his home. Charleroi is about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Superintendent Brad Ferko says the student never intended any harm and never made threats, but made a "really stupid, bad mistake." The 18-year-old student is reportedly a senior and also a member of the National Honor Society.

The Allegheny County Bomb Squad was called to help remove the bombs.

Officials say the student was suspended and is being questioned by police.e
