Two-car crash kills 4-year old, injures 2 others

INDIANA — Two vehicles collided Tuesday in Center Township, Indiana County, killing a 4-year old child and injuring two others, authorities said.

Indiana state police said a 2007 Ford Focus with a driver and three passengers crossed into the path of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee and collided head-on on Lucerne Road at 10:08 a.m.

The driver of the Ford and an adult passenger were injured. A 2-year-old child was secured in a child safety seat and was not injured. The 4-year-old was riding in a booster seat and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured. Troopers did not release the names.

The state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist Unit are investigating the crash.
