SUSPENDED STATE SUPREME COURT JUSTICE MELVIN WILL BE SITTING ON OTHER SIDE OF BENCH TODAY

That's when jury selection begins in the Pittsburgh-area jurist's campaign corruption trial. Melvin and her sister, Janine, who worked as Melvin's aide, are charged with using Melvin's former Superior Court staff to run Melvin's campaigns for a Supreme Court seat.

IT'S A HOCKEY NIGHT IN PITTSBURGH

For the first time since the Penguins were knocked out of the National Hockey League playoffs last April, the Consol Energy Center will be packed to the rafters for the team's home opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Sixty-four-year-old Arthur Schirmer was convicted by a Monroe County jury on Tuesday. Now he faces trial in Lebanon County, where prosecutors say he killed his first wife, Jewel, then tried to make it look like she died falling down the stairs.

PHILADELPHIA POLICE SEEKING LEADS IN DEATH OF PEDIATRICIAN FOUND BOUND, BURNING IN BASEMENT

Police believe 35-year-old Melissa Ketunuti was strangled — perhaps by someone she knew — before she was found burned with her ankles and wrists bound. She was a researcher of infectious diseases at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

STATE GOP SENATORS WANT GOV. TO ENSURE THAT PRIVATIZED LOTTERY WON'T COMPETE WITH CASINOS

The lawmakers are concerned that British firm Camelot Global Services may try to expand the lottery through online gambling in a way that would cut into casino profits.
