INDIANA —
State police say an 81-year-old Indiana County man was so drunk while driving that he crashed head-on into a vehicle headed in the opposite direction, even though the other driver moved onto the berm to try to avoid the crash.
The Associated Press was unable to find an attorney for Walter Cope of Indiana or to reach him at two listed phone numbers on Thursday.
Troopers from the barracks in Indiana say the crash happened when Cope turned onto Route 56 from Route 954 in Center Township, Indiana County, about 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say Cope was traveling east and crossed into the westbound lane and onto that berm, hitting a car driven by 52-year-old Edward Rura, of Homer City.
Police say Rura was injured, but didn’t offer details.
